I’ve been busy (April 2021)

This website hasn’t been updated for quite a while, as I’ve been in full-on “nerd mode,” working on a 700-page novel.

A lot has happened since my last update:

  • My novel You Disappear was made into a movie. It did very well at the box office and was Denmark’s contender for an Oscar in the category of Best Foreign Language Film.

  • Another Danish-language movie was made of my novel The Exception, starring Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen) and Amanda Collin (Raised by Wolves), among a host of other great Danish actors.

  • Denmark’s biggest and most venerable publishing house, Gyldendal, celebrated its 250th anniversary by letting readers vote on their favorite Gyldendal titles of all time. Forty thousand readers voted ten Gyldendal titles into the 250th Anniversary Collection. I feel humbled to be among the three contemporary authors included in this collection.

  • I am honored that Michel Houellebecq, the French novelist extraordinaire, included me on his list of “indispensable authors” when he guest edited the French cultural magazine “Les Inrockuptibles.”

Meanwhile, I’ve been hunkered down in my writing cave, keeping interviews and readings to a minimum.

The manuscript is now 90% finished. I hope to see you all again soon – and show you what I’ve been doing all this time.

Huffington Post - Germany

With Du verschwindest, Christian Jungersen hits it out of the park. Not only because he persuades you to consider deep questions of personal accountability, but also because he demonstrates, urgently and powerfully, how one person’s behavioral disorders affect all those around him.

Huffington Post – Germany

What a psychothriller – and so much more. A gorgeous, truly gorgeous novel that. however scary, is a joy to read.
